1936 Society Of Medalists #13 Medal Rejoice Young Man in Thy Youth Tait McKenzie

Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1936. This is the Society of Medalists Thirteenth issue medal. The obverse shows a nude athlete throwing a ball or putting the shot. The obverse also has the legend "REJPYCE OH YOUNG MAN IN THY YOUTH" in four lines surrounding the athlete. There is also the letters RTM interwound and splitting the date 1936 above the athlete's raised left leg and having (c) in exergue. The reverse of the medal has the image of five men running with flying geese overhead and a slim whippet racing below. The designs on both sides are in nice relief. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists; Thirteenth Issue; Medallic Art Co. N.Y.". A great looking and very interesting medal, by one of America's top medalists to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Weight and Size: The medal weighs ~156 grams, is ~73.5 millimeters in diameter, and ~4 millimeters thick at the edge.

Maker: Medallic Art Company of New York.

Marks: Marked "The Society of Medalists; Fourteenth Issue; Medallic Art Co. N.Y. Bronze" along the edge of the medal. There is the initials A.S. bottom right of the design on the obverse.

Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it uncirculated or mint state. The medal has no observable wear with minimum surface marks or scratches.
