1938 National Bank of Egypt One Pound Banknote Signed Cook P22b Choice AU 58 EPQ
Description: A choice about uncirculated banknote from Egypt. This is the 29th September 1938 one pound currency note. The banknote, which was issued by the "National Bank of Egypt" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., New Malden Surrey, England, has a blue design on multicolored background on the front. The front also has a brown circle to the right with the image of Tutankhamen. The back of the note is green with a design showing a mosque in the center. The note is signed EM Cook for Edward M Cook the Governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. The note has the denomination spelled out in the center of the front and in numerals to the left of the back. This particular note has the serial number 333129 displayed three times on the front and is series J/31. The note has one signature displayed on the front center near the bottom. It is dated 29th September 1938. The banknote has a watermark depicting the head of the sphinx. It is Pick #22b and is listed in the Banknote Book as B121b. The note is graded Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Condition: The banknote is graded by PMG as Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The banknote is clean, has no stains, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. It does appear to have a light central vertical fold, which is most likely the reason for the AU grade. The edges are intact and show no roughness and the corners a fully squared with no observable rounding. A beautiful banknote worthy of a spot in your collection.
