1943 South African Reserve Bank Ten Pounds Banknote P #87 About Uncirculated 55
Description: A beautiful about uncirculated banknote from South Africa. This is the South African Reserve Bank ten Pounds note issued 19 April 1943. The banknote is brown on multi-colored underprint. The front displays a ship with its sails fully open and full of air in the harbor, boats ferrying goods to the shore, men carrying goods, a woman tending a fire, men herding cattle, railroad crossing a bridge and a factory with smoking stacks. There are mountains in the background and a sun with rays emanating from it. The back is also brown in color and shows the South African arms in the center. The note is written in English above Afrikaans with the first line, on the front for the name of the bank and denomination, being in English. The front has one signature, that of Postumus, the date, and the serial number as well as the denomination. This particular note has the serial number F over 2 894123, which is displayed twice on the front in black. The back only displays the name of the bank and the denomination. The note has a watermark displaying the portrait of Jan Van Riebeeck. The banknote is graded About Uncirculated 55 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Condition: The banknote is graded About Uncirculated 55 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The note looks grade with no noticeable signs of circulation. It is our opinion that the note may have been under graded. The note is clean with no stains. Its corners are intact and squared with no observable rounding and possibly a light bump in the upper left corner. The edges are intact and show no roughness. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears, and no splits. A very nice note in very nice about uncirculated condition to add to your collection.
