1947 South African Reserve Bank Five Pounds Banknote Pick Number 86c Choice VF++

Description: A nice very fine or much better Banknote from South Africa. This is the South African Reserve Bank Five Pounds note issued 8 April 1947. The banknote is green with brown and orange on the front. The front displays the image of a sail ship in harbor with people carrying boxes on the shore, a woman in front of a fire, factories and mountains in the background, and a train crossing the water on a bridge. There are also men tending to cattle and a wagon also shown on the front. The back is also green in color with an orange background. The back also displays the South African arms. The note is written in Afrikaans and English. The note is signed by Dr. M. H. de Koch and it is pick 86c. This particular note has the serial number B over 29 094758, which is displayed twice on the front in black. The back only displays the name of the bank and the denomination. The note has a watermark displaying the portrait of Jan Van Riebeeck. Please carefully review the scan provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good very fine or much better. The note has several vertical folds but no evident horizontal folds. The paper of the banknote is stiff and retains some crispiness and sheen. The corners are squared with minimum rounding if any. The note is clean with no stains, no graffiti, no pinholes, and no evident roughness along the edges. The note has no tears and no splits. The colors of the note are clear, vivid, and bright. A very nice note in very fine condition with nice paper quality to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
