1948 One Pound Banknote National Bank of Egypt Leith-Ross Last of Series P22d VF
Description: A nice very fine or better banknote from Egypt. This is the 10th of June 1948 one pound currency note. This is the last date for issues of this series which started on 23rd pf April 1930. The banknote, which was issued by the "National Bank of Egypt" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., New Malden Surrey, England, has a blue design on multicolored background on the front. The front also has a brown circle to the right with the image of Tutankhamen. The back of the note is green with a design showing a mosque in the center. The note is signed by F. Leith-Ross the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. The note has the denomination spelled out in the center of the front and in Roman numerals to the left of the back. This particular note has the serial number 446708 displayed three times on the front and is series J/120. The note has one signature displayed on the front center near the bottom. It is dated 10th June 1948, representing the last date of issue for this series of one-pound banknotes. The banknote has a watermark depicting the head of the sphinx. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good very fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note is clean with no objectionable stains. Its edges are intact in general with minor roughness and soiling. The note has light vertical folds and a horizontal fold as well as some minor wrinkling. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. Its corners are intact with some minor rounding, minimum bumps, and some creases. The note retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. A very nice note, worthy of spot in your collection. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
