This is the 1 August 1959 Twenty Francs currency note issued by the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. The banknote is green on multicolored underprint. The front depicts the image of a young boy smiling to the left with the image of a water reservoir in the center. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 01.08.59 or 1 August 1959.
Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited, London, England.
Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3". Pick Number: P 31 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B311i.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as choice crisp extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has one vertical central fold as well as some waviness near the top left corner and that is it. It has no tears, no splits, and no repairs. It is clean with no soiling and no stains. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, and no observable wear to the edges. The note retains most of its original stiffness and crispiness. The corners are intact, fully squared with minimum rounding, if any. This is a great example of this rather scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection.
