1968 Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation 500 Dollars Banknote P179c
Description: A good very fine or better banknote from Hong Kong. This is The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation 11th February 1968 Five Hundred Dollars currency note. The banknote which was issued by the "The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. has a br9own and blue design on multicolored underprint with the image Sir Thomas Jackson within an oval shape too the right of the front. The front also depicts the arms of Hong Kong in the upper center with the denomination spelled out in the center. The back is blue with the image of a bank building in the center and the head of a woman to the left. Both front and back have the name of the bank and denomination. The front shows two signatures, the date, and the serial number. This particular note has the serial number 104399 displayed twice in black on the front and four times on the back, all with the prefix "L". The banknote has a watermark, located in the oval to the left of the front, of the head of a woman facing right. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good very fine or better with all the details being very preserved. The note has vertical and horizontal folds with soiling along the folds on the back. The note retains quite a bit of its stiffness, crispiness, and sheen. Its edges show minimum roughness and are intact with no tears or splits. Its corners are intact, squared with minimum rounding. The note has one minor pinhole between the K and the O in the word KONG on the front which can only be seen when the note is held at a certain angel to the light. The note has no graffiti, no wrinkling, no stains and is only lightly soiled. All in all, this is a great looking banknote which would make a great addition to your collection.
