Antique Brass & Wrought Iron Ladle with Copper Rivets Southeastern Pennsylvania

  • $ 59.99

Description: A beautiful antique nice size and rather heavy ladle. The ladle has a wrought iron handle while the bowl is made of brass. The bowl itself is attached to the wrought iron handle with two copper rivets. The handle is flattened on its top portion and is rounded inn its bottom portion. The bottom part of the handle is flattened again to attach it to the brass bowl. The top of the handle has a loop to hang from. The bowl itself is semi spherical in shape with a plain rim, which shows markings of machining. This is a great looking ladle that is heavy for its size and feels great in your hand. It would make a great addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain but most likely mid 1800s to early 1900s (mid 19th to early 20th century).

Origin: Purchased at an antique auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The ladle measures ~13" long, while the bowl is ~3" in diameter at the top, ~1 3/8" high with the handle measuring ~11" long from the top loop to where it meets the bowl. The piece weighs about 7.5 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nicely done iron, brass, and copper ladle, which would be a great addition to any collection.

Condition: The ladle is in good condition. The piece has some ware, signs of rust along the handle, white residue along the handle which we believe is residue of brass cleaning agent, and a small tight crack (~1/2" long) at the edge of the bowl (see 5th photo near the bottom right corner and the two last photos). It is clean in general but the piece could use a good polishing and cleaning to bring its full beauty out. The piece is solid and beautiful and really looks good and feels great in your hand. Please see photos for additional condition information.
