Antique Cast Brass Bell Marked "10" and Having a Long Brass Handle
Description: Antique brass bell having a brass handle. Ther bell, which is made of cast brass, has the raised number 10 on its exterior. The long the long, shaped cast brass handle has a ball-shaped end with a round hole in it suggesting the bell was originally hung on a rod with similar bells possibly of various sizes. The bell has what appears to be the original clapper and has a very nice ring. The piece is nicely cast and looks good. This is a nice unusual antique brass bell. Date: Unknown but most likely mid to late 1800s.
Origin: Purchased at an antique auction in southeaster Pennsylvania.
Size: The bell measures ~6" high with the opening of the bell is ~3" in diameter and the bell being ~2 1/8" in height. The piece weighs about 9 ounces.
Maker: Unknown.
Marks: Unmarked as to the maker.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice antique all brass bell that is solid and has a beautiful ring. Definitely a quality antique bell with a great patina, worthy of a prominent spot in your collection.
Condition: This antique bell is in very good condition with no dings, breaks or repairs. It does have some minor scratches and some minor dings to the surface. The piece also has signs of oxidation to the brass in a few spots mostly on the inside. The bell is also soiled and could use a good cleaning to bring out its full beauty, but we leave that to the new owner's discretion. The bell has wear commensurate with its age and use.
