  • $ 57.77

Description: A nice fine banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the 10 February 1943 ten Francs currency note issued by the Bank of the Belgian Congo. The banknote is violet. green. blue, and orange. The front depicts the Watusi Dancers with trees and a hut in the background to the left of center. The front also has an over print in black stating "TROISIEME EMISSION-1943" the date, the serial number and two signatures. It also shows the denomination in number and in French. The back is written in Flemish and depicts huts, trees and soldiers in red with a greenish sky. The back also has an over print stamp in black says "DERDE UITGIFTE-1943" and shows two signatures. The note has a watermark showing the head of an Okapi and is dated 10.02.43. This particular note has the serial number V128361, which is displayed twice in black on the front. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 10.02.43 (February 10, 1943).

Printer: Waterlow & Sons Limited of London, England.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~3 3/8". Pick Number: P 14C and is listed in the Banknote Book as B213a.

Condition: For international buyers, please note that the new US postal rates for first class overseas shipping are, in our opinion, very high. Unfortunately we are unable to change. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. I would grade this banknote as a fine with all the details being still well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and a horizontal fold as well as general wrinkling. The note has general soiling and a few light stains but no major objectionable stains. The note shows general roughness along the edges and some minor losses. The corners are intact but show some rounding. The note is intact with no tears or splits. It has no graffiti and no pinholes. It does have two spots in its center where you can see light coming through (These do not appear to be completely formed holes) which resulted from excessive folding. The note may have been pressed. This is a nice example of this rather interesting and scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view the scan presented for additional condition information.
