Currency 1952 National Bank of Egypt One Pound Banknote P #30a Signed Fekry VF
Description: A nice very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 30 May 1952 one pound banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is blue and lilac in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of Tutankhamen facing forward within a circular frame to the right of the front. The back is blue in color and shows ancient Egyptian temple ruins in water with a round white circle to its right (where the watermark is located). The front also indicates that the note was issued by the National Bank of Egypt according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 965205 and is from the series (Kha Dal) KD/30, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has a watermark depicting the head of the Sphinx of Giza. It is signed by Mohamed Amin Fekry the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 30 May 1952.
Printer: Unknown.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 3/8" by ~3 3/8". Pick Number: P 30 and is listed in The Banknote Book as B130a.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical folds with obvious soiling along the folds evident on the back. The note is generally lightly soiled with some more folds, creases, and light wrinkling. The note is intact with no tears and no splits. The note has no major objectionable stains, has no graffiti, and has no pinholes. The corners are intact, with bumps and some minor observable rounding and a few minor bumps. The edges show some light roughness especially at the ends of the folds. The one issue we observe is the fact that some of the surface was torn off because it would seem the note was stuck to something that was removed forcefully and taking some of the surface paper off and leaving white areas to the left of Tutankhamen face. Other than that, the note is all original and worthy of a spot in your collection of Egyptian banknotes. Please see scans for additional condition information.
