Old Pewter Fluid Lamp Tulip Bulb-Shaped Reservoir Two Caped Brass Finger Burners

  • $ 219.99

Description: Antique pewter fluid lamp. The lamp has a around base with a raised center and a shallow well and a raised edge. The center supports a shaped shaft. The shaft is supporting a tulip bulb shaped tank with a screw-on circular top. The screw-on top is equipped with two finger like burners slanted away from each other. The two finger like burners appear to be made of brass and have new short wicks inserted in them. There are two caps for the burners attached to the screw-on cap attached to the round screw-on cap with a chain. The top, caps appear to be made of pewter, while the chain holding them to the screw-on top appears to be made of brass. The screw-on top serves as a lid to the reservoir where the oil would be. The reservoir is relatively clean on the inside suggesting the lamp was not in heavy use in the past. We believe this lamp was made in the US and is from the mid-1800s. It has developed a nice gray age patina which has nice eye appeal. A nice piece which would display well in your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Unknown but we suspect mid-1800s.

Origin: Was purchased at an estate sale in Southeast Pennsylvania

Size: The lamp measures ~4 3/8" in diameter at the base and is ~9 1/8" high to the caped top of the burner. The piece weighs about 13 ounces

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice classic antique worthy of a spot in your collection.

Condition: The piece is in good condition with no breaks or repairs. It appears to be all original and has developed a nice warm gray age patina. The cover fits into the opening and screws in very well. It is relatively clean and appears not to have seen much use in the past judging by the coloration of the interior of the reservoir. The piece has scratches, some surface dings here and there and a few minor nicks. The round base is not completely flat but we believe a handy person can flatten it and return the piece to its original condition. There is a label on the bottom of the base w0ith the number 0033, which we believe is an identifying number used by the previous owner. The brass fingers on top have bumps, dings, and some damage, which can be seen in the last photo. The piece is solid and would display nicely in any collection or can be used as a decorative accent in your home. Please see photos for additional condition information.
