Old Pewter Half Pint Tankard or Measure Gaskell and Chambers Birmingham England
Description: Beautiful antique pewter Victorian Half Pint tankard or measure by Gaskell and Chambers of Birmingham England. This early 1900s pewter tankard or measure has a cylindrical shape with a footed base. The mug has a round base and inwards rising sides with an applied handle and a flat rim. The tankard has the words "GASKEL & CHMBERS BIRMNGHAM" stamped on the bottom of the base. It also has a mark showing the letter “Y†within a triangle, with "X" above it and a star below it (dating the piece to post 1902) on the base on the inside of the tankard. The piece has the word "HALF PINT" punched on the outside with many marked along the edge of the tankard on the outside. These marks are probably marks of officials certifying the volume of the measure. A nice piece of old English pewter that is over 100 years old and is in very good condition, which would display nicely in your collection. Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The piece was made in Birmingham England. Size: The tankard is ~3 1/2" high with the base bei
ng ~3" in diameter, the top being ~2 3/4" in diameter,, and is ~4 1/2" at its widest point including the handle. The mug weighs about 10 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice antique piece of pewter with nice form, which would display very well in your collection.
Condition: This mug is in good condition. It has no breaks, cracks, or repairs. The piece has a nice warm gray age patina. It is soiled and could use a good cleaning, which we leave to the discretion of the new owner. The bottom of the inside as well as the bottom of the exterior are scratched and you can see the lines in the photos. The surface inside and out has a few scratches and some small and minor dings.
