1308A (1891) Bronze Coin Comoros 10 Cents Paris Mint Torch Privy Extremely Fine

  • $ 87.77

Description: A nice toned bronze coin from Comoros. This nice size coin shows Arabic lettering on both sides with the obverse indicating the coin is a "10 centimes from the State of Comoros may God protect her" with the date 1308 (the date in Anno Hegirae) below it all within a wreath. There is the letter “A” in the bottom for the Paris France mint and a Torch Privy mark at 5 o'clock near the edge. The reverse cites the name of the regent Said Ali Ibn Said Amr in the center within a beaded circle with the notation in Arabic indicated that the state is a protectorate of the great state of France. A nicely toned coin which is graded by NGC as “XF Detail Environmental Damage”. Be that as it may, it is a beautiful coin with low mintage and rather rare and hard to come by. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1891 (1308 AH).

Origin: Minted in Paris, France.

Weight and Size: The coin is ~30 mm in diameter and is made of Bronze.

References: KM# 2.2.

Condition: The coin is graded XF Details Environmental Damage by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. The coin is nicely toned with all of its details being well preserved and having some wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. Despite the fact that the holder suggest Environmental Damage to the coin, we still like the coin's appearance and eye appeal and do not recognize a negative impact on the appearance of the coin except for the slightly uneven toning on both sides. Be that as it may this is a nice coin offered and a reasonable price and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see the photos for additional condition information.
