Description: A good about uncirculated 1850s brass merchant token. The token is for A.C.Yates & Co. of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The token is undated but was issued in the 1850s. The obverse shows a man nicely dressed and leaning on a column. He is surrounded by the legend "THE LEADING AND POPULAR CLOTHING HOUSEOF PHILADA" along the edge. The reverse has the name of the business "A.C.YATES & CO. CLOTHIERS" in the center surrounded by the legend "LEDGER BUILDING, COR. 6th & CHESTNUT STS." along the edge. The token has a plain edge. It should weigh ~8.5 gm and should measure ~27 mm in diameter. The token is graded About Uncirculated (AU 55)) by NGC and comes in a plastic holder so labeled.
