1909 Banco Nacional De Mexico Five Pesos Banknote Series W6 Pick No. S257c XF
Description: A beautiful extremely fine or better five pesos banknote issued by "Banco Nacional De Mexico" in Mexico. This is the September 1st, 1909 issue banknote. The banknote is printed in black over a yellow and brown underprint. The front depicts the image of a seated female reading (Literature) to the left and the portrait of M. Garcia Teruel within an oval to the right. The front also displays the date, denomination, and four signatures. The front also has a red round seal left of center near the top. The back is brown with the image of Christopher Columbus discovering America inn circular frame in the center. The back has a blue scalloped treasury seal near the top left corner. This particular note has the serial number 3311798 printed in red twice on the front but not on the back. This is a series W6 as evident in the right bottom corner of the front. There is also the red letter M in the left bottom corner of the front. A very nice note to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: September 1 1909.
Printer: American Bank Note Company of New York.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/8" by ~2 3/4". Pick Number: S257c.
Condition: I would grade this note as nice extremely fine or better. The note may have been lightly flattened. It retains quite a bit of stiffness and crispiness. It is lightly soiled and the red seal on the front has bled onto the back. The front appears to show lines suggesting folds, which are not seen on the back and hence our suggestion that the note may have been flattened. The corners are intact with rounding, the edges are intact and do not show appreciable roughness. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears and no splits. A nice note to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
