1915 Two Mexico State Of Sonora Banknotes 25 & 50 Centavos P# S1069 & S1070 UNC

  • $ 49.99

Description: A lot of two banknotes from the State of Sonora in Mexico. These are the January 1, 1915 series H regular issue twenty-five centavos and the series I regular issue fifty centavos. This lot is comprised of two crisp uncirculated notes, with nice embossing. The 25 centavos note has the serial number 75150 and the 50 centavos note has the serial number 93177. The serial numbers are shown twice in red on the front of the notes. Each banknote depicts the portraits of Francisco Madero (President of the United Mexican States) at left and J. M. Pino Suarez (his Vice President) at right both in black and white over a black background with white on black writing on the front. The back is green with the image of an eagle with a snake in its beak (the arms of the Mexican Republic) with the words Republica Mexicana and the words Goberno del Estado Libre Y Soberno De Sonora surrounding the eagle in its center. The back of both notes also has a black scalloped treasury seal in the left upper corner. Additionally, both notes are stamped JR-XXXX in black to the right of center with the 50 centavos having a lighter and thinner stamp than the 25 centavos. The notes have four printed signatures displayed on the bottom of the front but have no water marks that we could find. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: January 1, 1915.

Printer: American Bank Note Company, New York.Size: The banknotes measure ~4 1/2" by ~2 1/4..

Pick Number: The 25 centavos note is Pick number S1069, while the 50 centavos note is Pick number S1070.

Condition: I would grade both banknotes as crisp uncirculated with vivid colors and nice embossing. The banknotes have all their details very well preserved. The notes have no graffiti, no splits, no pinholes, and no tears. They are both without folds or creases and the corners are intact, nicely squared with no rounding and having intact edges having no observable roughness. The notes are clean with no major stains. The 25 centavos appear to have alight stain n the top left corner of the front. It may have gotten wet sometime in its life and hence the light stain you see. The 25 centavos also has some waviness in the paper, which we feel is original to the paper which is a bit thicker than the paper of the 50 centavos. Both notes are free of graffiti and have no pinholes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
