1933 Chicago World's Fair Souvenir Walking Stick or Cane Roosevelt Metal Handle
Description: A beautiful painted wood cane or walking stick from the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago known as Century of Progress. The thin wooden cane is painted in black and has a metal handle. The metal handle is cast in the form of the bust of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the president of the US at the time. The cane has a metal silver colored metal plaque which says "1933 A CENTURY OF {ROGRESS; CHICAGO" in raised lettering right below the handle. The Roosevelt bust handle, which maybe bronze, but we are not certain (we think it may be Bronze because it is heavy for the size but has no magnetic properties), says "ROOSEVELT" on the front in impressed lettering and "A CENTURY OF PROGRESS" in impressed lettering on the back both at the bottom of the bust. The cane has lost its Ferrule Heal, which would have been on the bottom. In addition, the cane has scratches, some paint loss, and dings throughout the shaft, but is still intact and solid. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
