1941 Egypt 50 Piastres National Bank of Egypt Pick Number 21b Large Nixon Signature Beautiful Very Fine Banknote
Description: A beautiful very fine or much better banknote from Egypt. This is the 20th February 1941, very desirable 50 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote has a green image on multi colored and white background. It depicts the image of Tutankhamen in profile within an oval frame to the left of the front. The back shows the crescent and three stars, the Egyptian symbol at the time, to the left and again in green over white background. The banknote shows decorative designs of flowers near the bottom corners both on the front and back. The back also indicates that the note was issued under decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 638514 and is from the series A/14, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has a water mark depicting a scarab in the center near the bottom. It is signed by Nixon the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time and the note represents the large signature variety. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all the details being very well preserved. The note has several vertical folds, a central horizontal fold, has several minor stains on the front and back, and is soiled to the point where its original white color of the background is now a light gray color throughout (it is a bit darker than the scan suggests). The note also has light roughness along the top edge especially at the ends of the folds. The corners are a bit rounded but they are intact and have some minor creases. The note is intact with no graffiti or pinholes and is nice looking. This is a nice piece in good shape and would make a great addition to your collection.
