1945 National Bank of Egypt 5 Pounds Banknote P# 19c Small Nixon Signature VF+

Description: A beautiful very fine or better banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 11th December 1945 five pounds banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is green and purple in color. It depicts the image of the building housing the National Bank of Egypt in Cairo in the center of the front. It also has designs of ancient Egyptian deities in rectangular frames at the top left and right corners of the front. The back is blue and red on green and orange background. The back shows an image of a building surrounded by palm trees in the center. The note has no watermark that we could find. The front of the note indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 091312 and is from the series M/116, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front but not on the back. It is signed by Nixon the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. This note has the smaller Nixon signature. I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and horizontal folds with general light wrinkling. Paper has some soiling and some minor staining but with no objectionable stains as can be seen in the images presented. The note's paper still retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears and no splits. The edges show general roughness and a few minor kicks. The corners are intact with rounding, bumps, and creases.
