1948 Egypt One Pound Banknote National Bank of Egypt Pick 22d Fredrick Leith-Ross Signature Nice Extremely Fine or Better
A nice extremely fine or much better banknote from Egypt. This isDescription: the 19th May 1948 one pound currency note. The banknote, which was issued by the "National Bank of Egypt" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., New Malden Surrey, England, has a blue design on multicolored background on the front. The front also has a brown circle to the right with the image of Tutankhamen. The back of the note is green with a design showing a mosque in the center. The note is signed by F. Leith-Ross the governor of the National Bank at the time. The note has the denomination spelled out in the center of the front and in Roman numerals to the left of the back. This particular note has the serial number 653778 displayed three times on the front and is series J/101. The note has one signature displayed on the front center near the bottom. It is dated 19th May 1948. The banknote has a watermark depicting the head of the sphinx. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note is clean with no staining. Its edges show are intact in general with minor nicks at the center of both top and bottom edge. The not has a very light vertical fold in the center, which is difficult to ascertain but can be inferred by the nicks and short creases in the margins at the center of the top and bottom edges. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. Its corners are intact with minimum rounding, minor creases, and a couple of bumps. The note retains most of its original stiffness, crispiness and sheen. A very nice note worthy of spot in your collection. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
