1992 Carved and Painted Wood Folk Art Parrot on Swing Hearts Decoration By Jonathan Bastian
Description: A nice folk art carved solid wood sculpture of a parrot on a swing or perch. The body of the parrot is green in color with the beak painted in yellow with red and the eye also painted in yellow with a black center. The parrot also has wings in the form of two hearts inside each other and painted in maroon and green with yellow, dark brown and white decoration. The parrot has wire legs which are wrapped around a round piece of wood having a curved wire attached to both ends of the cylindrical piece of wood and having a heart shaped loop on top. The swing and leg wires are brown in color. The entire piece shows marks indicative of carving and is just great looking. It is signed on the underside near the end of the legs JB 92 for Jonathan Bastian 1992, in black color. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1992.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Mr. Batian whoc is originally from Kutztown Pennsylvania now lives in Virginia.
Size: The bird measures ~6 1/4" long and the swing is ~7 1/2" high by ~3 1/2" wide. The piece weighs about two ounces.

Marks: Marked JB 92 in black on the underside.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice and interesting piece of folk art primitive Americana, which would make a great addition to your collection.
Condition: The carving is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, losses, or repairs. It does have some minor scratches, a few minor dings to the surface, and some minor soiling.
