Antique Hand Painted Bradley and Hubbard Cast Iron Plaque Women and Children in Kitchen Golden Frame with Stand Marked B&H 1813
Description: Offered here is an antique cast iron decorative plaque with a stand. The plaque which has a raised design of two women and two children in the kitchen is hand painted and has a gold colored frame and backing. The back is marked B&H 1813 and has a swinging leg to serve as a stand. It also has a hoop on the back to hang from if you choose to do that. The piece is hand painted and is well cast. It shows very nice details of the people's faces and clothes as well kitchen implements. Just look at the hanging cauldron and the dishes lined up on the rack. The frame itself has a decorative motif and two cherubs on top and a raised floral design. The piece is heavy, soiled and show signs of wear. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 1800s.
Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Bradley and Hubbard was in Meriden, Connecticut, USA.
Size: The plaque is ~11 1/4" long, ~6 1/4" wide, and weighs ~1 pound 14 ounces.
Maker: Bradely and Hubbard.
Marks: Marked in raised lettering "B&H 1813" on the back.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Just a very nice old decorative plaque.
Condition: The plaque is in generally good condition. It is soiled and the colors are a bit dull. It has some losses of paint on the high points. It also has a spot where the paint is lost which can be seen in the second photo about a third of the way from the top. The gold finish of the frame has wear and is lost in many spots and the frame shows some minor pitting. Be that as it may, the piece is still great looking and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
