Bank of Belgian Congo 1947 Five Francs Banknote Pick Number 13Ad Very Fine Currency Note
Description: A nice very fine banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the undated SIXIEME EMISSION-1947" five Francs currency note issued by the Bank of the Belgian Congo. The banknote is green and orange on the front with the image of an allegorical woman sitting on vine-wrapped roman column with a child looking at a beehive. The front is in French and shows the serial number in black twice. This particular note has the serial number A/D 015750 and has the overprint in black indicating it is "SIXIEME EMISSION-1947." The back has the same color scheme as the front and has the image of an elephant and hippopotamus in the jungle. The back has text in Flemish. The note has no watermark neither does it have a security thread. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The note is undated but has the overprint saying "SIXIEME EMISSION-1947" on the front.
Printer: Waterlow & Sons, Ltd, London England.
Size: The banknote measures ~3 7/8" by ~3 1/8".
Pick Number: P13Ad and is listed in the Banknote Book as B210d.
Condition: For international buyers, please note that the new US postal rates for overseas shipping are very high and we are unable to change them. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. Please check the cost of shipping before bidding. I would grade this banknote as very fine with all the details being still preserved. The note has a vertical central fold and a horizontal fold. It has some wrinkling and may have been lightly pressed. The note is soiled and has a few small stains but none that are large and truly objectionable. The corners have wear and rounding, the edges have some minor roughness and small nicks at the ends of the folds. The note has no tears, no pinholes, and no graffiti. The note still retains some of its stiffness and retains all of its original coloring with no appreciable fading. This is a nice example of this rather scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view the scans for additional condition information.
