Beautiful and Rare 1826 Matron Head Liberty Head Large Cent PCGS Graded VF35

  • $ 494.99

Description: A nice very rare and PCGS VF35 copper 1826 Matron Head Liberty Head large cent or penny.   The coin itself is better than the scan shows and has much of its details evident. The date is readable and Liberty's head can be seen with the details of her hair and the word LIBERTY is on the obverse. The word one cent in the center of the reverse is obvious as is the wreath and the words United States of America. The coin has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin is problem free and in original condition. These coins were designed by Robert Scott . Early US coins such as this are gradually getting difficult to find, especially this date for which the mintage was 1,517,425. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1826.

Mint: NA.

Size and Weight: Originally 10.89 grams of a copper and is ~28-29 mm in diameter. The coin has the plain edge design.

Condition: The coin is graded and slabbed by PCGS. It is graded as VF35. The coin has wear commensurate with its age, some scratches and bag marks. The coin is in excellent original condition and is truly problem free.  Please note the fogginess you see in the center of the reverse is in the plastic holder and not in the coin and does look this bad in reality. A definite rare find, deserving a spot in your collection. Please see photo to appreciate condition and beauty of the coin.
