Cartier Round Enameled Box "Christmas 1979" Santa & Rain Deer On Roof England
Description: A beautiful small round enamel on copper box by Cartier made in England. This generally white colored box has a hinged lid that looks very much like the antique (18th century) Battersea enameled patch boxes in shape and profile. The lid of the box is decorated with a colorful transfer depicting Santa Clause and four rain deer on top of a snow-covered roof of a house. Santa has a big sack by his foot and is holding a gift in his hand while heading towards one of the chimneys shown the image. The notation "Christmas 1979" is above the image along the edge of the lid. The side of the box is decorated with transfer depicting Santa in the driver seat of a long sled loaded with gifts and being pulled by 8 rain deer. The bottom of the box is marked "Cartier (c); Made in England" in black under glaze. The inside on the box is white with a black line drawing on the bottom showing a bag of toys and the inscription ""Joyous Tidings at Christmas" in beautiful calligraphy on the inside of the lid. A great Christmas memento with nice decoration that is well executed and rather beautiful on a nice dainty round box. Would make a great addition to your collection.
