Commonwealth Australia 5 Pounds Banknote Pick Number 35a Navigator J Franklin VF
Description: A beautiful very fine banknote from the Commonwealth of Australia. This is the undated 1960-65 five pounds currency note. The front of the banknote has a black design over blue background. It depicts the image of navigator John Franklin (famous explorer) in an oval frame to the left of the front. It also has the Australian shield in the top left of the front. The back is blue over white background showing seashells, livestock, and agricultural products. The front also has the denomination written in words (Five Pounds) in the center and as 5 in all four corners. It has the signatures of Roland Wilson to the right and H.C. Coombes with the title Governor, Reserve Bank of Australia both at bottom of the front in black. This particular note has the serial number 837007 displayed twice in black on the front but not on the back. It is series TC over 84. The banknote has a water mark depicting captain Cook's head. This is a rather scarce note and would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical and horizontal folds. It also displays general wrinkling as well as some general light soiling and a rather large brown stain along the left edge. The edges show wear and roughness and some nicks here and there. The corners are intact and show rounding. The colors are still vivid but not very bright. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. The note would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
