Hand Painted Rabbit Trinket Box Chamart Exclusif Limoges France Carrots & Beets
Description: A beautiful nice size oval-shaped hand painted bonbonniere or trinket box by Exlusif Chamart in Limoges France. This very colorful box has a hinged lid. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a thumb piece on the front top portion. The brass hinged closure mechanism has a thumb piece in the shape of what we believe is a Thistle. The lid of the box is shaped in the form of a white colored rabbit laying down on the green colored top with carrots and what we believe are beets painted on his body with green branches and leaves. The box has a slightly rounded bottom having the name of the maker and the origin written in beautiful black cursive calligraphy. The inside of the box is white and has no decoration. This is a very nice piece from Limoges France to add to your collection of small trinket boxes. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime in the 1980s or 1990s, possibly earlier.
Origin: Made in Limoges, France.
Size: The box is ~2 5/8" by ~1 3/4" at the base and is ~2 1/4" high to the top of the rabbit's ear. The rabbit itself is ~3" long and ~1 1/2" high. This box weighs about 3 ounces.
Maker: Exclusif Chamart of Limoges France.
Marks: Marked on the bottom of the box in beautiful black cursive calligraphy "Paint Main; Exclusif Chamart; Limoges France".
