Antique Primitive Large Plunger Type Butter Mold Acorns and Leaf Decoration

Description:  A nice large antique wooden butter mold. This plunger type mold has an engraving of  two acorns on a branch with a leaf next to it. The wooden case of the mold is decorated with two incised circles near the top of the case and the case has a raised platform where the plunger goes in. The piece has acquired a nice dark patina over time but does not appear to have gotten much use. The plunger has a knob like top and screws into the print itself. Date: Uncertain but at least from the mid 1900s, probably older.

Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: Measures ~4" in diameter at the bottom and is about ~5 3/4" in height, when fully extended. The print is ~2 7/8" in diameter.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is an interesting older butter mold with a nice and unusual design.

Condition: The piece is in good condition. It has no breaks or repairs. It does have a crack on top, which can be seen in the photos. Also there is minor losses to the screw at the end of the plunger, which can be seen in the photos. Other than that it is problem free and appears to be all original.
