1976 Rare Unusual Glazed Breininger Redware Bottle Green Cucumber Shaped

Description: A nice, unusual and rather rare glazed green colored redware bottle. This elongated cucumber shaped bottle was made by Lester Breininger in 1976. The bottle is equipped with a cork to stopper it. It i light green on color with darker green highlights. It is glazed inside and out and truly looks great. It is marked in black under glaze near the top with the letters LB76 for Lester Breininger 1976. The bottle represents an early example of Breininger's work when he was making the redware items himself before he hired a staff to help him make his product. This piece is very unusual and in over 25 years of purchasing and collecting redware we never saw a similar item. A great piece of redware pottery made by the master potter himself. Origin: Robesonia, Pennsylvania.

Size: Measures ~8 1/2" long and is ~2 1/8" at its widest. The piece weighs over 13 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A beautiful rare and very unusual early piece of Breininger redware made by the master himself. A beautiful redware piece, which deserves a prominent spot in your redware collection.

Condition: Bottle is in very good condition. It has no cracks, chips, repairs, hairlines, or crazing to the glaze. The bottle has several of the usual defects you would expect with all these primitive redware pieces such as pops, slubs, unglazed areas, bubbles opening at the surface and uneven spots. In addition, the piece has several scratches to the surface and minor glaze losses on the surface. There is a small flake at the edge of the top opening and a scrtach to the body which we show in the last photo. Be that as it may, this piece is great looking and would make a great addition to your collection.
