2004 Redware Pie Plate Glazed Yellow Coloring with Brown Mottling Snowflakes Decoration By Ned Foltz

Description: A beautiful redware ~7 3/4" flat plate with a coggled rim. This glazed dish has yellow colored background with brown colored mottling along the coggled edge or rim. There is also brown colored snowflakes throughout the center of the plate. The plate has thick walls and is rather heavy. It has a slightly flattened base with flared and rather flat sides that end at a coggled edge. The base as well as the exterior wall are not glazed and show the typical color of unglazed redware. The bowl is signed and dated by the artist. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Origin: Reinholds, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Size: Measures ~7 3/4" in diameter and is ~1 1/2" heigh. The piece weighs over 1 pound and 5 ounces .

Maker: C. Ned Foltz Marks: Marked with Foltz Pottery mark with the words "Ned Foltz; Reinholds, Pa 2004" surrounding the mark with a cross to the bottom of it all on the back of the plate.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a beautiful redware plate made in the best Pennsylvania Dutch tradition of Southeastern Pennsylvania. It is rather substantial and weighs over 1 pound 5 ounces. A definite beauty deserving of a prominent spot in any redware collection.

Condition: Plate is in very good condition. It has no cracks, no repairs, and no hairlines. The plate has signs of general crazing to the glaze.
