1893 Silver Coin From Spain Five Pesetas PG-L Alfonso XIII as a Child Choice XF or Much Better

  • $ 174.99

Description:  A beautiful choice extremely fine 1893 heavy five pesetas silver coin from Spain. The coin displays the bust of King Alfonso XIII as a child facing left on the obverse. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain between pillars with the legend "REY. CONST.L DE. ESPANA" preceded and followed by the mint mark "PG" and "L". The denomination is shown below as 5 PESETAS. The coin has the words "ALFONSO XIII POR LA G. DE DIOS" surrounding the king's bust followed by the date 1893 between two stars under the king's bust. The coin has what looks like Fleur-de-lis all along the edge. It is nicely toned, and has very nice eye appeal. This is a rare and very difficult to find coin, especially in such a fine state of preservation. Please carefully review the photos provided as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1893.

Mint: Spain.

Size and Weight: Silver coin weighs ~25 gm of 90%25 silver and is ~37.5 mm in diameter.

References: It is KM #700.

Condition: I would grade this coin as choice extremely fine or better.  It is nicely toned and has all of its details very well preserved. The coin has scratches on the obverse on top of the child's head, which can be seen in the photo. It also has additional minor scratches, some bag marks and minor nicks to the edges. The coin has very nice eye appeal and is beautiful. It has minimum wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. Other than that it is problem free and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
