1339-42 Gold Coin Venice Italy Ducat Zecchino Bartolomeo Gradenigo Fr. 1220 AU58

Description: Beautiful gold coin showing no date from Venice Italy. This is a one Zecchino or Ducat from the times of Bartolomeo Gradenigo in the period of 1339-1342. The coin shows Doge kneeling before St. Mark, who holds staff in right hand with the legend "BA*GRADONICO | • S | • M | • V | ? | N | ? | T | I" with the letters DVX along the staff all on the obverse. The reverse shows full length Christ the Redeemer standing facing forward within beaded ellipse lined with 9 stars (5 to the right and 4 to the left). The reverse has the legend "SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT" surrounding the image of Christ along the edge. The coin is undated but was issued during the period 1339-1342. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. It is graded as about uncirculated AU 58 by NGC and comes incased in a plastic slab so labeled. It is a rather nice with good eye appeal. It is Fr. 1220, weighs ~3.53 grams as noted on the slab and measures ~20 mm. Please carefully review the photos provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: The coin is graded About Uncirculated or AU 58 by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. It is in a nice state of preservation with minor wear, shows some scratches and minor bag marks in the field. The coin has very nice eye appeal and would make a great addition to your collection.
