  • $ 54.99

Description:  A nice uncirculated banknote from France. This is the 10 Brumaire l'an 2eme or 31 October 1793 Assignat de Cinq Livres or five pounds banknote issued by the republic. The banknote is off-white in color with black printing. The note is series 14726 printed in black and having no serial number on the front. The note has one signature on the front, again printed in black to the right. The note has an embossed seal with the image of a winged female angel sitting on a throne left of center on the front. The back of the note is blank. The paper of the note is thin and shows good embossing. The note has a watermark depicting a horizontal bar between the words ASSIGNAT and de CINQ livres, the number "5" in the center and a two additional watermarks circular in shape behind the signature, right of center and behind the embossed seal, left of center, which we are uncertain what it says. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 31 October 1793.
Printer: Unknown.

Size: The banknote measures ~4 3/4" by ~3 3/8".

Condition: I would grade this banknote as uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds and no creases. It has no tear, splits, breaks, repairs, or pinholes. The corners are intact and fully squared. The note has no graffiti or stains. The note is clean and shows nice embossing. The note is in excellent condition given it is over two hundred years old. This is a nice note that would make a great addition to your collection of French banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
