1844 Argentina One Peso Pick NumberS403b Small Square Uni-face Nice Fine Banknote
Description: A small square shaped and rather scarce fine banknote from Argentina. This is the 1st January 1844 one peso banknote issued by the Banco Y Casa De Moneda in the Province of Buenos Ayres in Argentina. The note is of white paper with black printing. The note is uni-faced or is only printed on one side and is blank on the back. The note has arms on both sides of the spelled out denomination on the front with the denomination in numerals in all four corners. The note has what looks like two signatures one on the bottom and one near the top of the front and has a black decorative frame with the date 1 January 1844 on the bottom. The back of the note is blank and may have graffiti. The usual political statement on top of the note is crosses out by overprint. The note has neither a serial number nor a water mark. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The note is dated 1st January 1844.
Size: The banknote measures ~53 1/4" by ~3 1/8".
Pick Number: P S403b.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a solid fine with all the details being still preserved. The note has general fading and is soiled to the point where the white of the paper is darkened. The note does not have any major objectionable stains. It has light graffiti on the back. It has no tears, no splits and no pinholes. It has a light colored line near the top right corner which we believe is an artifact of the printing process where the paper had a fold during the printing and then it was straightened out after the note was printed and as such leaving a white unprinted line. The note may have been flattened and has signs of several vertical folds, horizontal folds and signs of general wrinkling. The corners show some losses, bumps and rounding. The edges of the note have no tears, but show some roughness and losses especially on the top and bottom edges. A great example of this scarce note to add to your collection.
