This is the 1st April 1867 one peso banknote issued by the Province of Buenos Ayres in Argentina. The note is of white paper with black printing. The note is uni-faced or is only printed on one side and is blank on the back. The note has image of a ram in the center of the front with denomination spelled out on top and in numerals on either side all on the front. The front also has the date, a serial number and one signature. This particular note has the serial 6273953, which is shown on top of the front. The back of the note is blank. Date: The note is dated April 1st of 1867.
Size: The banknote measures ~3 1/4" by ~3 1/4".
Pick Number: P S471.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very good or much better with all the details being still preserved. The note has general fading and is soiled to the point where the white of the paper is darkened. The note does not have any major objectionable stains. It has foxing and what looks like holes from that foxing throughout. The back shows some imprint of the signature from the front and shows soiling throughout. It has many nicks along the edges as well as folds, creases, and general signs of wrinkling. There is at least one short tear at the center of the bottom edge in the center, which does not reach the design. The note has a couple of pinholes too. The note may have been flattened and has signs of several vertical folds, horizontal folds and signs of general wrinkling. The corners show losses, bumps, creases, and rounding. The edges of the note have general roughness, nicks, folds, and minor losses. A nice example of this scarce note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
