Description: A lustrous uncirculated 1886 Peruvian silver crown size coin. This is a republic transitional One or Un Sol silver coin. The coin depicts the Liberty seated and facing right. Liberty is holding a staff in one hand and a shield that is sitting on the ground in the other on the obverse. The obverse has the legend "FIRM E FILIZ POR LA UNION" and the denomination. The reverse has the Peruvian arms within springs and having a small wreath above it. The reverse has the legend "REBUP PERUANA LIMA 9 DECIMOS FINO T.F. 1886." Date: 1886.
Mint: Santiago Peru.
Size and Weight: This is a one sol, which is approximately 37 mm in diameter and weighs ~25 gm of 90%25 silver. The coin has a reeded edge.
References: It is KM #196.22.
Condition: I would grade this coin as a nice uncirculated. The details are all well preserved and readable and the Liberty's figure is just beautiful and shows the details of her head and dress as well as her facial features very well. The coin has a dark toning along the edge and is problem free. It does have some minor scratches, bag marks, and a few minor dings to the edge, but nothing to worry about. It is in original uncirculated condition and has great eye appeal. It is better than the scan shows. It has no appreciable wear commensurate with its uncirculated status.
