1908 Banco Nacional De Mexico Five Pesos Banknote Series GI P #S257c PMG VF 20
Description: A nice very fine five pesos banknote issued by "Banco Nacional De Mexico" in Mexico. This is the January 1st, 1908 issue banknote. The banknote is printed in black over a yellow and brown underprint. The front depicts the image of a seated female reading (Literature) to the left and the portrait of M. Garcia Teruel within an oval to the right. The front also displays the date, denomination, and four signatures. The front also has a red round seal left of center near the top. The back is brown with the image of Christopher Columbus discovering America in circular frame in the center. The back has a blue scalloped treasury seal near the top left corner. This particular note has the serial number 2187928 printed in red twice on the front but not on the back. This is a series GI as evident in the right bottom corner of the front. There is also the red notation M in the left bottom corner of the front. The banknote is graded 20 Very Fine by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. It has the notation Rust on the back. The corners are intact with some rounding and bumps, the edges are intact and show general roughness. The note has no graffiti, but has several pinholes or small paper breaks in the center portion.
