1912-17 France 5 Francs Banknote Pick #70 Blue Man and Woman Standing About VF
Description: A nice about very fine banknote from France. This is the 1912-1917 five francs or cinq Francs issued by the Bank of France (Banque De France). The banknote is blue in color both on the front and back. The front depicts the image of a man and a woman in blue color standing each at the edge and each is holding a sword. The back is mostly blank with blue decoration all along the edges with the denomination in all corners and the name of the Bank of France in the bottom. The note is not dated but has 2 signatures that of Laferriere and of Picard on the front. This particular note has the serial number 348403830 and is series D.13937. The center of the front has the notation B.16=16.B. We assume this is an indication that it was issued in 1916. The banknote is almost very fine; it is soiled and has staining all along the edges of the back. It has horizontal and vertical creases and light roughness along the edges. It is intact but has many pinholes near the top left corner of the front. The note also has a hole in the center which is the result of excessive folding and unfolding of the note over time. Be that as it may, this is still a nice example of this elusive banknote in decent condition to add to your collection. Condition: I would grade the banknote as almost very fine; it is soiled and has staining all along the edges of the back. It has horizontal and vertical creases and light roughness along the edges. It is intact but has many pinholes near the top left corner of the front. The note also has a hole in the center which is the result of excessive folding and unfolding of the note over time. The note has light wrinkling, roughness along the edges, rounded corners, but no graffiti. It is intact and in relatively good condition.
