1914 State of Chihuahua Mexico El Banco Minero One Peso Banknote P #S162e VF+
Description: A beautiful very fine or better banknote from the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. This banknote was issued by El Banco Minero on 7 July 1914. The front is black on green and has the image of a seated Indian to the left and a seated woman to the right with black writing as well as white on black lettering. The back is green with the image of the Banco Minero building in the center flanked by the denomination and having the name of the bank spelled out top center. The back also has an oval seal of the Banco Minero at the top left corner and a rectangular seal, which we are unable to make out at the bottom left corner. This banknote was originally issued in 1888 with this particular note being a reissue of July 7, 1914. This note is a Series E issue having three signatures on the front and having the serial number 415959 printed in red on the front. There is also the number 433 printed in red on the front. A nice and rather rare banknote worth of a spot in your collection. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1914.
Printer: American Bank Note Co. N.Y.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/8" by ~2 3/4".
Pick Number: Pick number S162e.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine or better. The banknote is soiled, with a heavy central vertical crease and several additional vertical folds. It has a horizontal fold, some minor stains but non that are large and objectionable. The corners are intact with some minor rounding and several bumps. The edges show some minor roughness. However, the note has no tears or splits. It also has no graffiti and no pinholes. A nice piece to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
