1915 Banknote State of Chihuahua Mexico Series K, 20 Pesos Pick S537b Crisp AU++

  • $ 49.99

Description: A beautiful crisp and almost or about uncirculated Banknote from the State of Chihuahua in Mexico. This note was issued by "The State of Chihuahua" or "El Estado De Chihuahua." This is the 10 February 1914 decree series K, 20 Pesos, issued in January 1915 (this date is shown under the series indication on the front). The banknote depicts the portraits of Francisco Madero (President of the United Mexican States) and Abraham Gonzales (Governor of the State of Chihuahua) in black and white over a brown colored background with black writing on the front. It displays the denomination at the four corners and has three signatures. The back is also brown in color with the image of the capitol building in its center within a frame and surrounded by two winged allegorical animals. The back also has the denomination displayed in all four corners. The back does have a black scalloped treasury seal for the state of Chihuahua. The back also displays the printed block letters "A-WXI" in black and the date 3-27-15 stamped in black above the capitol image. This is Pick Number 537b. This particular note has the serial number 2963199 on the front twice in red and does not display the serial number on the back. The note has three signatures only displayed on the front but has no water mark that we could find. The paper of the note is still stiff, crisp and retains its original sheen with no folds or wrinkles. The note is great looking. The colors of the note are vivid and beautiful. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: January 1915.

Printer: Unknown.

Size: The banknote measures ~7 1/4" by ~3 1/4".

Pick Number: S537b.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice crisp about uncirculated or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no creases, no soiling, and no signs of circulation. The corners are squared and sharp with no rounding. The note has no pinholes, splits, graffiti, or tears. The note is crisp and retains its original sheen. The only issue is the fact the we noticed a couple of light bumps to the top and bottom corners on the left plus a minor almost puncture to the paper at the bottom right corner and hence our grade of AU instead of UNC. This is a great piece to add to your collection in a high and uncommon grade. Please see photo for additional condition information.
