1915 Currency Series N State of Chihuahua Mexico 10 Pesos Banknote P# S535a UNC

  • $ 49.99

Description: A beautiful crisp and uncirculated Banknote from the State of Chihuahua in Mexico. This note was issued by "The State of Chihuahua" or "El Estado De Chihuahua." This banknote conforms to the 10 February 1914 decree. It is the series N 10 Pesos, issued in January 1915 (this date is shown under the series indication on the front). The banknote has no date in the center of the back making it Pick 535a. The banknote depicts the portraits of Francisco Madero (President of the United Mexican States) and Abraham Gonzales (Governor of the State of Chihuahua) in black and white over a yellow-orange colored background with black writing on the front. It displays the denomination at the four corners and has three signatures. The back is green in color with the image of the capitol building in its center within a frame and surrounded by two winged allegorical animals. The back also has the denomination displayed in all four corners. The back does have a scalloped treasury seal for the state of Chihuahua in red. It also displays printed block letters "RUI-M" in red on the back. This particular note has the serial number 978925 on the front twice in red and does not display the serial number on the back. The note has three signatures only displayed on the front but has no watermark that we could find. The paper of the note is thick and retains its full original stiffness as well as its original crispiness with no folds or wrinkles. The colors of the note are vivid and beautiful. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: January 1915.

Printer: Unknown.

Size: The banknote measures ~7 1/4" by ~3 1/4".

Pick Number: S535a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice crisp uncirculated with all the being very well preserved. The note has no creases, no soiling, no stains, and no signs of circulation. The corners are squared with no rounding or creases. The note has no pinholes, splits, graffiti, or tears. Note the traces of red ink on the front and back, which we believe are from the notes that were stacked on top and under this one in the pack. This is original to the printing process. This is a great piece to add to your collection in a high and uncommon grade. Please see photo for additional condition information.
