1924 Colombia Five Pesos Gold Coin MFDELLIN Under Simon Bolivar Facing Right XF+
Description: A beautiful extremely fine or much better gold coin from the Republic of Columbia. This is the 1924 five pesos coin. The coin displays the head of Simon Bolivar facing right with the word "MFDELLIN" and not "MEDELLIN" as it should be below it on the obverse. The reverse displays the Columbian Arms and denomination and lists the weight of the coin as well as the purity of the gold. denomination within a wreath. The obverse has the legend "REPUBLICA DE COLOMBIA.1924." surrounding the head of S. Bolivar. The coin has a reeded edge. Please carefully review the photos provided as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1924.
Mint: Columbia.
Size and weight: Coin weighs ~8 gm of 0.916 2/3 gold and is ~22 mm in diameter.
References: It is KM 204 and Fr 115.
Condition: I would grade the coin as extremely fine or much better. The coin has all of its details very well preserved with minimum wear. The coin has wear to the right of the arms on the reverse, which is the main reason we grade the coin XF++ instead of AU+. The coin displays the word "MFDELLIN" and not "MEDELLIN" as it should be below Simon Bolivar's head on the obverse. The coin has a few scratches, some bag marks, and some soiling embedded into the design, especially on the reverse. The coin is beautiful and shows wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. A nice coin which would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
