1933 Ethiopia Fifty Thalers Pick No. 9 Lion in the Grass PCGS Gold Shield VF 25

Description: A nice very fine Banknote from Ethiopia. This is the 29 April 1933 Fifty Thalers currency note issued by the Bank of Ethiopia. The front of the banknote is blue-green in color on multicolored underprint with Amharic, English and French text and depict a lion standing in the grass. The front also has the image of a bank building in the upper left corner and the Ethiopian Arms in the upper right corner. The back has basically the same color scheme as the front and has Amharic text. The front shows the serial number and one signature of the governor of the Bank of Ethiopia at the time. This particular note has the serial number C/2 11569, which is displayed in black twice on the front. The note has no watermark and no security thread. Size: The banknote measures ~7 1/2" by ~3 1/2".

Pick Number: Pick# 9 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B104b.

Condition: The note is graded Very Fine 25 by PCGS Gold Shield Grading and comes in a plastic holder that is so marked. The refer to stains and pinholes in the note. The note shows soiling, stains, folds, and pinholes. We confirmed the pinholes in the form of a group of pinholes above the image of the bank building on the front. Of course the stains can be seen in the bottom right corner of the front. Be that as it may, it is a nice example of this elusive banknote that would make a good addition to your collection.
