1934 Banknote Mozambique Company 5 Pounds Sterling Canceled Uncirculated P# R32
Description: A nice crisp uncirculated banknote issue by the Company of Mozambique. This is the 15 January 1934 five sterling pounds or cinco libras esterlinas banknote. The bank note has been canceled and has perforation which spells "PAGO 5.11.1942" or "Paid Out 5 November 1942", in a vertical fashion both near the right and left edges. The note is black on olive green and pink background. The front depicts a shield in the top center with two signatures, the serial number and the denomination. The back only shows the denomination. The note is dated 15 January 1934. This particular note has the serial number 24,028 which is printed twice in black on the front. A great looking note to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The note is dated 15 January 1934.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. England.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 3/4" by ~4".
Pick Number: R32.
Condition: The note has been canceled and is perforated with the letters "PAGO 5.11.1942" in a vertical fashion near both the left and right edge. I would grade this banknote as crisp uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds, no creases, no wrinkling and is clean with no soiling. The note has no pinholes (except for the perforation mentioned above), no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. Its corners are intact, squared with no rounding. The note retains all of its stiffness, crispiness, and sheen. The note has brown coloration along the right and left edge and along the bottom edge, with the right edge being more pronounced than either two edges. In addition, the bottom right corner was trimmed at an angel as can be seen in the images. Both issues, in our opinion, are not due to circulation, but rather are most likely an artifact of the printing process. Be that as it may, this is a nice-looking note in great condition worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
