1934 Medal Society Of Medalists 9th Issue First Little Shiner By Herbert Adams

Description: A nice large and heavy flower shaped octagonal bronze medal from 1934. This is the Society of Medalists nineth issue medal. The obverse of the medal has the image of a young boy with a fishing rod with a minnow on the end of the line. The obverse also has the legend "OH WHAT ARE THE PRIZESWE PERISH TO WIN" along the edge with the monogram HA (for Herbert Adams) and the date 1934 below the young boy. The reverse shows the image of a fish leaping with water and weed shapes below and the legend "TO THE FIRSTLITTLE SHINERWE CAUGHT WITH A PIN" surrounding the image along the edge. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists; Nineth Issue; Medallic Art Co. N.Y. " A great looking and very interesting medal, by an accomplished medalists to add to your collection. Weight and Size: The medal weighs ~178 grams, is ~73 millimeters in diameter, and ~5 millimeters thick at the edge.

Maker: Medallic Art Company of New York.

Marks: Marked "The Society of Medalists; Nineth Issue; Medallic Art Co. N.Y. " along the edge of the medal. There is the monogram HA followed with 1934 (c) on the bottom of the obverse.

Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it uncirculated. The medal has no observable wear with minimum surface marks or scratches. It has some dark spots on both the obverse and revers, which can be seen in the photos. Be that as it may, this is beautiful medal worthy of a spot your collection.
