1936 Egypt One Hundred Pounds Banknote Pick No. 17c Signed Edward Cook PMG VF 25
Description: A nice very fine one year issue banknote from Egypt. This is the 4th June 1936 one hundred pounds. The banknote is purple, orange, and green on the front. It has the image of Mohammed Ali Mosque in the Cairo Citadel with a an leading a camel in front of t to the left of the front. There is also the image of Cairo's Zweyla gate with two minarets to the right of the front. The note is written in Arabic and English with the serial number and the date being only in English. The back of the note has the same color sche3me as the front and depicts the image of a Feluka sailing on the Nile with ruins in the background and the name of the issuing bank, The National Bank of Egypt, written in Arabic below it and the denomination on top. The note has neither a watermark nor a security thread. This particular note has the serial number 068531 and is series K/3. The note was issued by the National Bank of Egypt and is signed by E. Cook, who was the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. The note is graded Very Fine 25 by PMG and has the notation Split Repair, Annotations. It comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Pick Number: P17c and is listed in the Banknote Book as B115b.
Condition: The banknote is graded by PMG as Very Fine 25 with notation on the back saying "Split Repair, Annotation. The note is slabbed in a plastic holder so labelled. It is soiled but has no objectionable large stains. It has splits, which have been repaired. and has graffiti on the front and back. The note also has some pinholes and folds as well as creases. Its corners are intact but has distinct rounding and bumping as well as some soiling and light staining. Be that as it may, this is still a nice example of this rare and very elusive banknote, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
