1936 National Bank of Egypt 5 Pounds Banknote P# 19b Edward Cook Signature VF25
Description: A nice very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 16th October 1936 five pounds banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is green and purple in color. It depicts the image of the building housing the National Bank of Egypt in Cairo in the center of the front. It also has designs of ancient Egyptian deities in rectangular frames at the top left and right corners of the front. The back is blue and red on green and orange background. The back shows an image of a building surrounded by palm trees in the center. The note has no watermark that we could find. The front of the note indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 004807 and is from the series M/35, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front and not on the back. It is signed by Edward Cook the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. The note is graded by PCGS Banknotes as Very Fine 25 and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The holder is also labeled Writing on the back reflecting the fact that the note has graffiti in red on the front. Condition: The banknote is graded by PCGS Banknote as Very Fine 25 with the notation Writing on the back of the holder reflect the fact that the note has graffiti in red on the front. The note is in very nice condition with folds and general circulation signs. It is relatively clean with nice colors and its details being well preserved. The note is attractive but shows evidence of handling and wear. It has several folds both vertically and horizontally. The note does not appear to have tears, splits or pinholes. The corners are intact with minor rounding and do show a few bumps. The note has a small blue colored graffiti in the front left of center. A great note to add to your collection.
