Description: A nice choice fine Banknote from Syria. This is the one livre or one lira banknote issued by "Banque De Syrie Et Du Liban". This is the 1 September 1939 issue with type D over print. The banknote is printed in brown, green, orange, blue, and yellow with the front and the back have French and Arabic text. The front depicts the image of the pillars of Baalbek at left. The back which is mostly red in color has Beirut cityscape in the center. The front also displays the date, denomination, and two signatures. The front also has black over print "SYRIE" in the top margin. This particular note has the serial number J/FE049,888 printed in black twice on the front but not on the back. The note is graded as 15 Choice Fine by PCGS Banknote Grading and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. A very nice note to add to your collection. Condition: The bank note is graded as 15 Choice Fine by PCGS Banknote Grading and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The note is soiled, has folds both vertical and horizontal, some wrinkling, a few stains especially on the back, and shows minor nicks and general roughness along the edges. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, and no apparent tears or splits. Its corners are rounded but intact. All in all, a nice-looking note which would make a great addition to your collection.
