1941 Commercial Bank of Scotland Ltd 5 Pounds Sterling Banknote P# S328b VF30EPQ
Description: A beautiful and rather scarce very fine banknote issued by the Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited in Edinburgh Scotland. This is the 5 pounds sterling note dated 3rd June, 1941. The banknote is blue on yellow and orange underprint on the front. The front of the note displays an allegorical scene above the written denomination on the front. It also displays the portrait of John Pitcairn within an oval in the center of the bottom on the front. The back is blue and depicts a Greek style building (the Bank’s Headquarter) in the center flanked by the numerical denomination. The front has two signatures those of the Cashier and the General Manager thus making the banknote Pick No. S328b. The front also shows the name of the bank, the date, a serial number, and the denomination. The back only shows the denomination. This particular note has serial number 03389 and it is series 14/G, which are displayed twice in black on the front. The note has no watermark that we could find. The banknote is graded Very Fine 30 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Condition: The banknote is graded Very Fine 30 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Its are well preserved and its colors are still vivid and all there. The note has folds and wrinkles. The corners are intact and nicely squared with some bumps and rounding. The edges are intact and show minor roughness. The note is lightly soiled, but has no pinholes, no graffiti, no stains, and no splits or tears. A very attractive note that is clean and intact.
